I use a mixture of lumber for my work which is either store bought, reclaimed from the beach or repurposed from pallets, old fencing, house paneling and more. My passion is transforming timber into products both familiar and unique. All of my driftwood pieces and shells are collected from the many beautiful beaches on islands right here in The Bahamas!
I take great pride in selecting the cleanest, most suitable pallets for use in my work. Ideally, one time use pallets (such as those built for transporting new equipment or large house appliances) are my first preference. If I use pallets that are utilized in international shipping, I ensure that they have stamps for the IPCC (International Plant Protection Convention) and heat treatment (HT). These pallets are required to be made of a material that will not carry invasive species. I also take care to not use colored pallets, pallets that were treated with methyl bromide (MB) or pallets that were used for transporting food products or chemicals. After dismantling, a bath in wood preservative and drying time the lumber is ready to be used! With regards to driftwood, everything is fully inspected, cleaned and cured before use.
I work on a first come, first serve basis. Completion time depends on a variety of factors; namely the jobs I have in the 'queue', the extent of detail or personalization requested and the size of the piece. When working with driftwood, I may need to go 'hunting' for just the right piece to complete the puzzle! Generally speaking, it can take anywhere from one week to one month. In any event, you will be informed of what I have in the pipeline already and when I can be expected to begin!

I'm a maker. I feel I reside somewhere in between!
It just so happened to have worked out that way. :0)
